skateboarding fun!!!

Welcome back blogging world!
a couple of days ago in class we were told to write in any style about our first skateboarding class. I wrote and acrostic poem made up of the words 'skateboarding fun.'

Starting  on the gear,

IMG_1301.jpg
Knee pads
And elbow pads next,
Then  wristbands last.
IMG_1292.jpgExcellent!  Skateboarding time,
Blue, pink, orange boards.
Okay, let's go, position your foot!
And now let's push along the court.
Reaching the finishing line,  we  are
Done. Gear  away
IMG_1324.jpgInto the boxes.
Now, boards in formation.
Gosh, that went fast

Filled with pride, I went to class,
Unfortunately the lesson is over...
Now, I can’t wait to go back!

The thing that I found most easy while writing this poem was the letter 'S' at the beginning. The 'S' was easy because the word 'start' begins with 'S' and 'S' is also the first letter of 'skateboarding'. The bit I found most tricky was doing the letter 'U' because not many 'U' words relate to skateboarding.

I hope you like my work, and feel free to comment!
you could talk about shortening sentences into phrases and loosing the little words or the words that tell us something versus suggesting something. Poetry is like song lyrics and need to flow like miusic in a way

Seasons in Maori

In class for Maori we had to learn all the words for the different seasons in English and Maori. Then once we knew them we made a drawing and put our knowledge onto that. We had specific instructions to follow. Here is my work:

I found this piece of work quite easy because I knew how to do everything like adding images.

Caesar the Anzac Dog

In class we read a book called Caesar the Anzac dog.
It was about a famous mascot dog for the NZ rifle brigade.
In the story Caesar and his owner Tom have to go to France to fight in WW1 and Caesar is a red cross dog.

A red cross dog has to go out and find wounded solders after the battle, sadly in this book Caesar dies. My favourite bit in the book is when Caesar is on the ship ready to sail to France because it is a really happy moment! The saddest bit is when Caesar dies! :(

My Tooth Slideshow

In class we have been reading a book called 'The Tooth'. It is about a boy called Tim and his friend Mits. They are trying to find a dinosaur tooth that Tim remembers from his childhood. My favourite bit in the book is near the end when they find a whole dinosaur fossil.

I think this would be a good book to read if you like dinosaurs. In this slideshow I had to research about NZ dinosaurs  and fossils and also Joan Wiffen, the first NZ palaeontologist.
The easiest thing about making this slideshow was the character study because I didn't have to research any thing. The trickiest bit about making this slideshow was researching  Joan Wiffen because I had to look in lots of different to find information about her.

Blog you later!

My Fatu Feu'u Inspired Art

Hello again blogging world,
lately our class has been looking at a Samoan artist called Fatu Feu'u. When he does his art he draws up lots of squares and does different designs in each square. You will see what I mean when you have a look at my work which is in the image link below:

This work was quite easy because all I had to do was write about my painting which I find quite simple. Painting my picture was a bit trickier though because I had to go over a lot of times!

I hope you like my work and feel free to comment!

My trench diary

Welcome back blogging world,
A couple of weeks ago we were thinking about what it must have been like in the trenches of WW1 so we decided to write a trench diary, describing as best we could about what it might have been like in WW1 using our 5 senses. Here is my work:

Bombs are going off in the distance, people are dieing, and I have to watch it all through my own eyes. I am in the trench at the moment because it was my turn to be on midfield (fighting in no man's land) yesterday. In about half an hour  The soldiers will all be coming back. I wonder how much we have lost this time?

Loud BOOM sounds ring in my ears, forever nagging in the back of my mind. BOOM, BOOM! Won’t it all just stop. I try to shut it all out but I can’t. BOOM BOOM! In my dreams at night. BOOM BOOM! Even when bombs are not even going off.

I can taste stale crackers. They are from the newest pack, but they still taste bitter and disgusting. They are as solid as rock, and I feel like my teeth are all going to fall out whenever I take a bite of one. They don’t even taste like anything. When they settle in my stomach I want to throw up. I regret this decision so much!

Wisps of Smoke  find there way up my nostrils like little bugs crawling up the back of a leaf. day and night. It smells grey and, well… smokey. It fills the air, the trenches. You can’t hide from it. The smell haunts you and follows you like a shadow. Always in your nose and right there. The smell of smoke is just one smell though, The stench of dead bodies is the worst! Like rotten meat or bread that went off a couple of hundred years ago!

I can feel my gun beside me. It is always around me. By my side when I sleep, In my hands when I am on midfield, and round my waist when I am doing chores in the trench. My gun is the one thing that I can trust. It keeps me safe even though It is not even alive. Just an inanimate object, but it really is the only thing that protects me from the enemies.

Stress and panic fills my body. When will the next bomb go off? Will I ever go home? Is this how I will die, in the middle of  no man's land with no one there to help me when I am sick? No one there to comfort me when I am sad? No one there to talk to me when I am lonely?

When will I next go out to fight? Will my trench foot heal? Will someone shoot me to death? How will I die? Will I ever return home? How long can I keep up making bombs out of tin cans? How long will it be until everything stops? Will I ever get sent anymore mail ever? What is going on back home?
This was a little bit tricky because I have no idea what it was like back in WW1 but I did look at a couple of videos so that I knew a bit about all of the things they had to do. In the trenches they got horrible diseases like trench foot and there were rats the size of cats. This sounds very yucky and I am glad I live in 2017!

Who visits my blog???

 Welcome back blogging world!
In class we were thinking about all of the people who might be visiting our blog. We decided to make a drawing of the people that came to mind.
This activity was quite easy because I knew how to do everything, like take screenshots and upload images which is basically all we had to do!

I hope you like my work, please feel free to leave a comment!

My Anzac experience

Hello again blogging world,
The writing above is a Link to a recount about what I did this Anzac Day. Our teacher asked us to write about something that we did on Anzac Day because this year it was in the holidays. What we wrote about didn't have to relate to Anzac Day. I hope you like my work and feel free to comment.

What does Anzac day Mean?
The word Anzac stands for 'Australia New Zealand Army corps'.

What is Anzac day
Anzac Day is a day to remember the soldiers that fell in World War 1 and 2.
