Jonty and Choc

Welcome back bloggers,
Last term in class, I was reading a book called Jonty and Choc, by Vince Ford. The book is about 2 boys who are best friends, and then they start Intermediate. At Intermediate Choc finds a mysterious lump that interferes with their friendship. Find out more in my book review:

I found this work fun because I got to work on a range of different activities over a week. The trickiest activity was  doing a 'Y' chart about a minor character in the story. I found this challenging because I did not know that much about the minor character. I had to assume things about the character and get clues from little details in the story. The easiest activity was the plot because all I had to do was retell the start, middle and end of the story!

How to screen-print

Welcome back bloggers
Over the last term we have been trying to find ways that we can help our world, and recycle. We came up with the idea to create tote bags instead of using loads of plastic bags. The first thing we did (after some research) was have a go at screen printing onto a fabric called calico. Then, as some of our literacy we wrote procedural writing about how to screen print. Here is my work:

For this writing we had to write from our own experience at screen-printing, and I found it quite fun. The most challenging bit was remembering all the things we needed to use, to put in the materials list. The easiest bit about this work was writing the steps because I knew how to screen-print and all I had to do was write down my experience in step by step instructions.

Halving and doubling

 Welcome back bloggers!
A couple of days ago in class we were thinking about what would make multiplication questions easier when we were working them out. We came up with the strategy of halving and doubling, this is my presentation to show my work:

I found some of the questions kind of tricky but I managed to complete them! My favourite part of this work was when we got to write our own word problem, maybe you could try and solve it (without looking at the answer on the bottom of the page!)
I hope you like my work, feel free to comment!

My new blog profile

Welcome back bloggers,

This week in class we were wondering what people thought about us when they visited our blog.
We decided to make a thing-link, to tell people a bit about ourselfs when they came onto our blogs.
This is my work:

I found this work easy because I got to write lots of stuff about myself, (what I like, what I dislike etc). I found this work challenging because I had trouble putting some of my Documents  in. I think this activity was fun and creative and I hope you guys like it!

Recycling And Rubbish

In class we have been thinking about Rubbish and Recycling. We read a book about this and then decided to make an info-graphic. An info-graphic is like a poster with bits of information, pictures, shapes and colour. We thought about things like, Where our rubbish goes, and what we can make out of recycled things. This is my
info-graphic:
I found this work quite fun because I got to add lots of images. I used a background with only 1 plain colour so my work would be easier to read.  I have learnt, that over 100,000 sea mammals are killed by plastic every year! I think humans need to think more about what we do with our rubbish because it can be harmful to our environment.
I hope you like my work, and feel free to comment!

new class!

Hi bloggers, A week ago we moved into our new learning area called Te Waka Ako. That means The canoe of learning. After a couple of days we made a drawing using the six thinking hats to show what we thought about the space. Here is my learning:

This work was quite easy because I was sharing my opinion. I hope you like my work and feel free to comment
