Clover Moon

In class a couple of weeks ago we started to make book reviews on books we had read. You could review any book you wanted, including your Duffy book. This is my book review on my book Clover Moon. I had to complete 8 tasks around this book. I think this work was very fun, and I think I did quite well in this task and I learned about the 19th century which is when the book was set. My favourite bit about the work was writing the acrostic poems. I hope you like my work and feel free to comment.

In class I read a book called Piper Reed for only 15 minutes and then I went onto thing link and made a thing link about it. If you hover over the dots with your curser then you can read information about the story. So far I am enjoying  the book and I think I will like it lots. I hope you like my work and feel free to comment.

Cybersmart Game

In class we played a game called Cyber-smart The Game. You had to try and do all of the activities you land on. This is one of 5 activities that I did. I had to go onto befunky which is a photo editor, and I had to screen shot before and after of how I edited a photo of myself. James (our cyber-smart teacher) made this game for us to refresh our chrome book skills.

Our class from around the world.

Hello everyone! Today in class for cyber-smart we had to make a map of where people were born and how far they had travelled to get to our school. Or to get to Auckland. This is my interactive map, my tag is on Auckland Hospital under the name Izzie. It is dark pink. here are the questions we had to answer:

How far have some students travelled?
Some one from Brisbane has travelled 2314 Km to get to Waikowhai Primary. and Some one from Tonga travelled 1790 Km to get here.

Why do people make the choice to move to a different country?
People might move to a different country because their country is polluted, or they have family in a different country. Also NZ has good jobs that you can get and good money.

Is this a trend in the NZ society? what does media tell us?
I think that lots more people are coming to NZ because it doesn't have dangerous animals, and we don't have pollution. Media says this is a bad thing because if we get very popular more terrorists might come. Media says that in summer it is a bad thing NZ'ers wear bare feet.

Here is a video link about all the 10 year olds explaining that there is a lie going around about the things that other country's citizens can and can't do and the horrible racism going around. It made me feel sad about how mean some people are.

Some facts about NZ:

  • In most country's you get your bill and put the money on your table bat in NZ you go up to the counter to pay.
  • lots of people prefer the coffee in NZ
  • The wild life is different in NZ compared to other country's
  • New Zealand experiences about 15,000 earthquakes per year but thankfully most of these are so deep they cannot be felt. However, about 150-200 earthquakes are felt up and down the country each year, some much more severe than others. During my time in New Zealand I experienced 4 and they are scary. Most buildings are now designed to rock with the earth to absorb the impact so they physically sway from side to side during an earthquake. Due to being on a fault line, this factor is just a normal way of life here.
  • People think we use strange names for things such as these: cling film in NZ is glad wrap, and a cool box in NZ is a chilly bin.
  • lots of places in NZ are hard to pronounce.
  • Mostly everything in NZ you pay for with a card.
  • people think everyone in NZ is very friendly.

This is a link to my Motat writing (click here)
If you click on this it will take you to my writing about a class trip I went to at Motat.
The trip was so much fun and we also went on a tram ride and then to the Leanardo 'De' Vinchi display. Thank you to Motat for letting us have a free trip!
I hope you like my writing and feel free to comment

This recount has been edited by me alone and not checked by my teacher
I am learning to work independently.

Parts to a Chromebook

This is an Map I made in class of how far some of the bits from my Chromebook have travelled. I chose the speaker as the bit to look into, and on the pinned points are the places where you get some of the things you need  that go into a speaker that goes into my Chromebook. This is an interactive map, that I hope you like, and feel free to comment!

What will happen?

This is some work we do on the first day back at school after the term break. We were thinking about online scenarios that happen in real life, and what we would do if we were in them. I made this scenario and here is what I would do in it:

-I would solve the problem by, first of all trying to talk to/E-mail my friend about how it is a bad thing to do, and then if that doesn't work I would tell my parents and tell them to tell my friends parents.

-I would keep the problem to myself at first and if that is not working I would talk to my parents and my friends parents.

-Maybe my friend would do this because she thinks its fun or an okay thing to do.

I hope you like my work and feel free to comment!

Installation art

At school for the art show we had to make a piece of installation art. Joyce ( my partner ) and I made a piece called project panda, we made a slideshow about it ( Below? ) this is a personal response sheet. On it is questions that ask me what I think about my work. I had to answer them all and then check it for spelling, capital letters etc. Down below is a photo of the art, I hope you like my work, and feel free to comment!

Abstract art

Hi! For the art show we had to create a piece of abstract art. We used lots of different media such as: paint, crayon, pastel and pencil. first we had to do a plan in our art book. and then we did our pastel. after that we did crayon and dye, after that we used special crayons, and put water over the top of them. When the water touched the crayon it turned to paint. Hope you like my work, and feel free to comment!

Project Panda

This year for the art show my class had to create a piece of installation art. This
is a piece of art that you install somewhere. The slideshow is all about the installation
art that me and my friend Joyce made. It is called project panda, and it is all about
how time is running out to save the pandas. We created a sand timer to show
time running out, and a panda so the people knew what animal we were talking about.
You can see the things we created in the slideshow. Hope you like
my work,  remember to check out Joyce's blog, and feel free to comment.

Bean rock

In class my teacher gave me a story called Bean Rock. It was all about the only wave washed lighthouse in New Zealand.  It is very old and has been around since  1840. After I had finished reading the book I got a work sheet and filled out the questions. On the last question I had to make  a drawing showing all the features of the lighthouse, here it is! I hope you like my work, and feel free to comment.

improving other peoples post

When James ( Our Cyber smart teacher ) came in on Monday we learnt how to improve other peoples blog comments. I chose a comment from a post with lots of pictures of the class painting jungle animals. The original comment is at the top, and the big box at the bottom has my improved comment in it. The three boxes in the middle are a rubric, they have things in them that we needed to do to improve the post. In this activity I learnt that leaving a detailed blog comment is helpful to the learner, and keeps a conversation going.  I hope you like the work, feel free to comment!

Padlet created with whole class

Here is a Padlet that my class and I made all together. The Padlet is all about what we think creates a strong, helpful and
kind blog comment. My list is under the name 'Isabelle'.  If you are going to post a comment on a blog you could look at this and see if you have a strong blog comment.  I learnt that You should make a connection on the other learners work.
I hope you like my this!

My holiday adventure

I woke up suddenly as a huge gust of wind blasted through the open window.
What was this strange bed? Where was I? Another gust of wind came flying in, and knocked my thoughts into me. I remembered that I was in Matakana, and I was sleeping in the same room as my  brother, in a rented bach.  I looked at the clock that stood beside my bed. MIDNIGHT!!!! I huddled down under the covers and fell asleep once more. When I woke up again, the sun's rays had covered up the moon. It was now 8:00 am, a  much more appropriate time to wake up…

I leaped out of bed  and chucked on some clothes, then rushed into the kitchen to make myself some breakfast. No one else was awake, just me. The whole house was quiet and still, like a lion about to pounce on its prey. Once I had made up my corn- flakes I seated myself at the table, and started munching. I gazed out at the view, in a world of my own, so my mother's voice startled me.

“Morning sweetheart” she said, “Morning Mum” I answered. Soon everyone was awake and ready to get on with the day. First of all we went to the farmers market and my dad brought a pie and some bread. Then once all the boring stuff was done we hopped into the car and drove down to the beach.  From the window of my car I gazed out at the view of water, waves and sand. And then the car came to a halt and I leapt out.

I stepped onto the sand and felt its squishiness between my bare toes. I jumped up and down a little, waiting for my mum and dad and brother to come. Bits of water from the wet sand flicked onto the back of my legs.  We started walking along the seashore, with the sound of crashing waves in the background. I picked up shells and threw them into the ocean. They landed with  little PLOPS! in the water.
My mum and dad sat down for a rest for a while, soI started drawing little things in the sand. Once again I wandered off into my own world.

When we were off the beach and back on grass, the whole family walked down to the playground. I instantly leapt into the swing and started swinging myself. I soared into the sky like a bird flying higher and higher. I felt the rush of cold air on my face and the warm rays of sun on my cheeks and back. I smelled the freshly cut grass down below me.
“Come on Izzy!” called my mum. So I hopped back in the car and we drove back to the bach.

At last we arrived. We unpacked, and me and my brother quickly showered. I got into my comfy rabbit-covered night clothes. We watched a movie. The movie was called Zootopia and It was really good. I stayed up late. I went into my bedroom and got my book, then I dipped into the world of Gwen Archer ( The main character ) and her pony Teasel. After a while my Mother sent me and Jack to bed. I stayed awake for a while, cuddling my soft toy. Occasionally I whispered to Jack but eventually (to be exact at 9.30 PM) I dozed off. Into a deep, deep sleep.

My Matakana holiday went on for more than just one day, but I've chosen to write about just this super fun day. My holiday at Matakana was super fun and I really do hope I can go again ( but I would probably like to go again  in a much less rainy season!)

KEY
Short sentence: Izzy
Simple sentence:  Izzy

This is some recount writing that I did in class all about one thing I did over the term break. I wrote about a day in Matakana. We had to focus on adding short and simple sentences. Matakana  is a great place to have a holiday!  I hope you like my work. Feel free to comment!

all the different parts that create this circuit! I think I am Relational because I have lots of ideas
that I can explain! I hope you like it, please leave a comment!

All about... ME!!!!!!!

These are the things we had to put on: Favourite spots team, favourite book, favourite food, favourite singer, favourite school subject, all our pets, number of siblings we had, and some one we look up to. I then added a picture of me and my cat, and then put in a backr-ound! feel free to comment!

How I improved my Blog post

I was told to improve one of my Blog posts. So I chose to try and improve my 24 hour digital footprint. I had already Added a Screenshot, and I added some typing about the things I go on most. But I decided to add a description about how I got to the finishing stage. Once I had added that I Formated my work and posted my new and improved word cloud onto my Blog. You can also see my word cloud on my Blog aswell! ( Below? )

24 Hour Digital Footprint

What site do you go to most?
I     think I go to www.typingclub.of all because it is is                                 a touch type website and my teacher wants me to learn to do
touch-typing because it will help my learning.

Would this look different on the weekend?
I think my words would look no different on the weekends
because I don't take my Chrome-book home.

Why do you think the word Google comes up so much in your history?
I think Google comes up so much because
all the things I go on are owned
By Google ( Drive, Mail, Class page.)

We are learning about what we go on most on the internet  in 24 hours. First we copied 24 hours worth of history and put it in the box. I clicked the GO! Button and my history turned into a word cloud , then I Edited my work by adding in the typing ( Above ). And last of all I posted this on my Blog!
